Goodbye Termites, Ants, and Roaches

House Flies Or Biting Flies? How To Get Rid Of Them

House flies are just harmless flies, but they can be a pest and a nuisance when they are buzzing around while you are trying to relax, or are buzzing at the windows, or when they are attempting to eat the food on your plate. House flies can be a pain no matter where you are, but when they are in your home, they can really be a pain. Biting flies are even worse; as their name suggests, they do bite and they leave a welt. Biting flies are usually on livestock, or they may attack your pets, but they can sometimes be in a residential yard and possibly in your home as well. If you have either of these fly problems, there are things you can do to get rid of them. Read on for helpful tips.

1. Keep Your Garbage Away From Your Home

Flies are attracted to garbage, so if you have a garbage can near your door or near an entryway to your home, you need to move it further away from your home. Be sure your garbage is sealed in bags and closed tightly and that the garbage can has a secure lid on it to prevent flies and other pests as well. Make sure you are taking all of your garbage out on garbage day and not letting it sit for weeks on end. If you don't, you will end up with flies and other pests will begin to make their way to your yard or into your home as well.

2. Keep Your Doors And Windows Closed

It's nice to let in a cool breeze or some fresh air, but be sure you have the screen closed on your doors or windows. Allowing your windows or doors to be open freely without a screen is going to let all types of pests into your home. Make sure the screens are closed, secure, and don't have any holes in them.

3. Clean Up Your Yard

Waste from a dog, a cat, or from other pests may lure pests to the waste in your yard. If you have a lot of waste in your yard, you could potentially have a lot of flies. Clean up your yard and remove the waste properly. Do this at least a few times per week.

4. Call A Pest Control Company

If you have a problem with these pests, you should hire a pest control company to help you get rid of them. Your fly swatter is only going to help you for so long, if you have a major problem with these or other pests, hire a professional.

House flies or biting flies can be a real pain, consider hiring a pest control service to help you get rid of the flies and keep them away.

Pest control companies can keep all these nasty insects away, and they can also help manage less-common pests like earwigs and house centipedes. As annoying as pests are, pest control is a pretty interesting topic, and it's one we explore in more depth on this website. Start reading, and say goodbye to ants, roaches, and termites for good.
